GenreBlast Film Festival Returns to Winchester, VA | August 29–August 31, 2025

Independent film fans, mark your calendars: the GenreBlast Film Festival is back in Winchester, Virginia, running from Friday, August 29th, through Sunday, August 31st, 2025, at the Alamo Drafthouse. Now in its ninth year, GenreBlast has earned a reputation as one of the most exciting and eclectic showcases for independent genre films.

This year’s festival promises an unforgettable weekend of cutting-edge cinema, featuring over 100 films across horror, science fiction, fantasy, action, comedy, and underground grindhouse fare. The lineup includes world premieres, regional debuts, and award-winning shorts and features from both emerging and established filmmakers around the globe. In addition to screenings, attendees can enjoy filmmaker Q&As, industry panels, table reads, and networking events designed to foster collaboration and celebrate creativity.

Festival directors Nathan Ludwig, Chad Farmer, and Raygan Ketterer, along with the GenreBlast team, continue to curate a one-of-a-kind experience for both filmmakers and fans, cultivating an inclusive and inspiring atmosphere where unique voices in independent cinema can shine.

Adding to the excitement, Saturday Fright Theater will be on-site covering the festival. I will be there conducting interviews with filmmakers, cast, and crew throughout the weekend, giving audiences a behind-the-scenes look at the artistry, passion, and stories driving this year’s films.

GenreBlast has become more than a film festival; it’s a creative community where boundary-pushing films find their audience. I can’t wait to meet the incredible talents behind this year’s lineup and share their work with Saturday Fright Theater viewers.
Join us in Winchester this Labor Day weekend for three days of groundbreaking films, vibrant discussions, and unforgettable celebrations of independent cinema.
